Is anyone going to UC a industrial design major? I am really interested in going into that and was wondering what it is like and what makes a good industrial designer? Just any information about it would be great! I know they have a strong design program and am thinking about applying! :)

my daughter is a freshman this year in industrial design. the first semester you take all the required freshman DAAP courses of all students but architecture. 2D design, 3D design, art history, drawing. you are also required to take english but she was able to waive it due to her AP english score. so she opted to take an introduction to speech class to help prepare her for interviewing for co-ops. next semester she will take continuation for the same classes but with only Industrial design students. my daughter was accepted to Drexel, Appalachan State, Virginia Tech and opted for UC since it is the top rated program in the country good luck to you

UC has an amazing industrial design program! it really is the highest quality design education you can get. that being said, it’s very hardcore and competitive. there are students working in the studios at all hours and on weekends and holidays and the teachers don’t give high marks out easily. but if you work hard and really push yourself, you’ll come out a top rate designer. I noticed among my peers, what makes a good designer is drive and passion. the best students I know all put in a lot of work outside of class and have other projects going on the side and are just really passionate about design and art in general.
