I was just wondering if anyone had any insight on the industrial engineering and management science undergrad program at NU. Info from current or former students in the major would be especially useful.

My main questions are:
1. What exactly is the curriculm like? What type of classes do you take- are they intensive engineering or more applied to a business setting?
2. How common is it for students to do a dual degree in econ or get a certificate from the business school?
3. How are job prospects after graduation? For former students, what field are you working in now and did NU prepare you well for it?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

more applied to a business setting. the joke among engineers in other departments is that it’s not a real engineering though most of them don’t know how it can be very challenging.

almost half of IEMS grads last year (or two years ago) finished the major requirements for econ major (according to the website). it’s also listed as one of the top-4 majors for students in Kellogg cert in terms of number.
