I'm majoring in Industrial Engineering at UF. How would this compare to majoring in finance? I know UF isn't a target school.

I’m on the same boat as you.

Industrial Enginee but considering investment banking.

Finance would probably be better coming from a non-target (because your best shot will be boutiques, which often don’t have formal training programs). There are definitely UF alums in banking. Try to find them and reach out to them.

I think warrington at UF has a special program in place where you can get undergrad and msf in four years. Its probably your best bet if you are at florida and want to get into banking - i think wells fargo/wachovia recruits there for front office ib/s&t positions in their charlotte office and a few others placed into various roles at bulge bracket banks.

Thanks for the advice, if anybody has anymore I’d love to hear it!
