industrial engineering

m confused between petroleum n industrial emgineeering..if i do industrial then i plan to work for a few years and then do mba..is it a good choice if i want a manegerial role as early as possible?

Your ability to lead and impress your bosses as an IE is what will lead to a managerial role asap. When you are ready to transition, then an MBA is good. The thing about IE is that we fill a lot of business type roles (ie Business process optimization, Logistics, healthcare management) from the beginning. You are managing processes. How well you do, will lead to how quick you manage the people that manage the processes.

How are the job prospects for industrial engineers?? And i heard people consider industrial engineers as lowly…is that true?

Haha, lowly? It is less on the physics, and more on the math and statistics, which is why I really like it, and why some might say it ‘isn’t really engineering’… But Salary-wise we do really really well. Job prospects are great too.

Its like i like to manage things and can be a good leader…and id love to work in such a job…i thought of doing a business major like business administration but then the salaties arent as great…so i am lukin at industrial engineering so that il get a good starting salary as well as a job in which u hav to manage things…am i right in choosing indudtrial engineering?

Go to youtube and watch every industrial engineering video you can find. This will give you an idea of what the field is about. A stranger telling you that a job is the right choice is like a blind man judging a beauty contest. So check out the videos and see for yourself whether it is the right fit. You may also want to look at curriculum’s of IE schools to see if the coursework is what you are expecting/looking for.
