Hi, I am a junior at a Northern California HS
I took AP Bio and for my first semester I got a D but for the second semester I got a B. The A-G list requires two years of laboratory science (bio, physics, chem, apbio, ap chem, etc.) and I already took biology and chemistry prior to junior year and in senior year ill be taking physics.
So with that one D, am I ineligible?

You should call one of the schools and ask. I am no expert, but if you have covered the requirement with three other science classes already, it seems to me that AP Bio is an “elective”. From the UC Website:

Since AP courses are awarded extra honors points, if a high school senior gets a D in an AP course, does that count as a C?

[Calculating GPA | UC Admissions](<a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors)

The university awards the bonus grade point for Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and UC-approved honors courses in which a grade of C or higher is earned. An honors grade point is not assigned when the grade earned is a D.

and further:

If a student who has satisfied all his “a-g” requirements takes an extra math class and gets a D, will it be used in his GPA calculation?

Grades in all “a-g” courses, even those in excess of the UC eligibility requirements, must be reported on the application and are used in the GPA calculation.

So it sounds like your grade will count in your GPA (as a D), but you should still get credit for completing the a-g requirements from your other science classes. I would call an admissions officer to ask for sure. Good luck.

It shouldn’t be a problem, as far as eligibility. The only thing that it is of consequence to is your GPA.

So don’t stress, and good luck!
