perhaps I'm in the minority here, but is there anyone else out there who checks this website and is immediately overwhelmed by a sense of inadequacy and failure? I've got this feeling, after seeing a lot of the personal profiles and results put up by people, that I am unworthy.

please tell me I'm not alone.

Consider joining the "Average People's Club." That was a thread that ran a few weeks back...you aren't alone.

its ok. Most of them got rejected from their top choice, whereas you as a normal smart kid will probably get into a solid state school, saving time money and depression following rejection.

I don't mean to act like I know you, I'm just guessing on a hunch that you are like me and will go to a good state school, the smart choice to save the $, and make the most of it

I compartmentalize. And eat lots of ice cream.

I don't let it bother me, I know I could have gone to Yale anyday but I didn't push myself to the extent in high school. Plus some people on CC tend to put "icing on the cake," so to speak. You can't really tell if anyone is telling the truth about their 4.0 or M.I.T. acceptance. However lying is natural, people lie to avoid rejection or critcism from fellow CC'ers. Hence you've entered in to a world where a 28 on the ACT is horrible. Go figure.

as soon as I read the original post, I was going to say a similar thing that kunfuzed101 already said..........more specifically, I've seen it happening a lot of time that some CCers got caught telling lies.........I can't remember any specific thread right now though.

You shouldn't feel inferior just because people have impressive stats. My grades aren't spectacular, but I don't feel inferior or unworthy because I feel that grades don't reflect who I am as a person. We try to label people with numbers (grades, SAT scores, IQ)... trying to measure how intelligent they are. But numbers are meaningless... it's just a superficial attempt to measure intelligence.

HAHAHA oh yeah me too. Not to pick on you kunfuzed, but I'm always annoyed when I see something like this: people that think they could have done something that's extremely difficult. It is a nice thought, and you could have certainly applied yourself and done great, but there is no way you can say with a straight face that you could have gone to Yale anyday. Sure, maybe you could have went to Yale, but that's not to say they'd let you into the classrooms. ;)
