<p>@mom2collegekids Thanks for all of the info. Your posts have led us to have our DD apply and get accepted to UA and the Honors College with a UA Scholar award in engineering. So excited for her, but we need to schedule a visit. Looking over your posts–is it best to go through the university to schedule a tour or through the Engineering Dept or Honors College? Would like to see the Engineering School as well as all the Honors Program has to offer but don’t want to duplicate by reaching out to all. </p>
<p>With serious consideration of UA, get a housing application and deposit in. You can check to see what the deposit is and how much you get back with timely decision of not attending. Housing priority with electronic access to signing up early.</p>
<p>And as soon as your student is at UA (and loves it) - look early for off campus housing for next year - some choose to stay on campus and one needs to also inform UA housing at their time-frame for choosing this option. I had DD and her chosen two room-mates to look early (and I looked with DD too) and we secured a very good option very close to campus.</p>
<p>Paying attention to dates and times - for example students have option to obtaining football tickets, but the window is short! DD got her spring semester schedule approved by academic advisor, so as soon as she was electronically able to sign up, her prepared schedule-builder first choice was accepted.</p>
<p>Once your student is coming to UA, there are closed facebook parent pages (and student pages for things like ride-share). It keeps parents in the info loop and also connected to their student experiences - networking with other parents is informative and enjoyable.</p>

<p>@lballs90 if you can be at UA two days (Fri/Sat) schedule with Saturday Capstone Scholars Day - lots of other students will be doing that and you can be included in Friday specific academic areas and general campus visiting; the Saturday has a very nice itinerary and good presentations. </p>

Global Brigades offers 7-9 day Medical Brigades throughout the year in Honduras, Panama and Nicaragua. During a Medical Brigade, volunteers have the opportunity to take vitals and patient history in triage, shadow licensed doctors in medical consultations, and assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of our partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year. Between brigades, our in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) trainings to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
