@StewNChelle I’m curious about UND as well. We live in ND and had no idea there was a Musical Theatre BFA in the state - let alone only an hour away. S is all about moving away so when I told him about this program, he wouldn’t even look at it. I can say generally that UND is in Grand Forks, ND which is a nice college town of about 60,000 people. People are nice. As you might imagine, it’s cold in the winter.
@StewNChelle: He’s not looking at anything close to home. He’s got all the “usual suspects” on his list. His safer, regional school is University of Minnesota Duluth. (Not a true safety as it’s an audition program) U of M twin cities has a good theatre program - but not a musical theatre major. Their Duluth campus has the major so that’s the closest to home - about 4 hours away. Everything else on the list is at least a 12-15 hour drive or plane ride. Needless to say, we are trying to stick with Unifieds for most of the auditions to try to minimize travel. If you have a kid who’s interested in living up on the tundra for 4 years, it is a good place to call home.
@speezagmom - Don’t hear about UMD too often! All my family is from Duluth. Both of my parents graduated from UMD and my grandfather was a campus policeman for many years back in the day.
