Hey everyone my name is Greg and I am happy to say i am acceoted into geneseo. one problem i am having is that I was also accepted into binghamton and i do not know which to choose. the funny thing is i am accepted into both for spring 2008 and was wondering if it would be hard to find my place halfway through the year. the semester does not bother me as i may get a holiday working visa and travel to australia to live there for a few months. I am interesed in veterinary medicine, i am social, and most of all, confused. i hear geneseo is better than bing all around (just what ive heard), but will graduate schools know this? should i go to bing for their prestige as a suny? by the way im leaning more towards geneseo at the moment but that can change in a heartbeat. thanks everyone!

anyone have any input? please?

I really would visit both campuses, I have a lot of friends going to both, and Geneseo is really in the middle of nowhere, I know some on this board will disagree with that, but it's a tiny town, and if you don't have a car then you're pretty much stuck there, but I really think its an excellent school, rather small, good student/faculty ratio, their hockey team really provides a lot of school spirit as they are a rising team in their conference. I think grad schools would probably see Geneseo and Bing as the same, but from what I hear Bing is a really depressing campus, and Binghamton is kinda far away from a lot of major cities, but it is definitely more urban than Geneseo, their sports teams are Div I, but they aren't all too good so I don't know how strong the school spirit is there. I hear that Bing is exceptional in the sciences though.

yeah, there the cream of the crop of the sunys but both really arent prestigious and they are relatively unknown outside of NY (especially Geneseo) if u have to choose between these, I would go binghamton because it is kind of not in the middle of nowhere. If u are from upstate then go to geneseo. If u aren't then go to Binghamton. Academics are the same. Bing is big, geneseo is liberal arts - ish.

There's a lot of discussion about Geneseo vs Binghamton, but it's really comparing apples and oranges. You need to think about what you want out of college, because both are good schools. Geneseo is a small, rural, liberal arts college and Binghamton is a large research university in a city. Really, what's most important is what kind of college environment you're looking for.
