Info On York College Of Pennsylvania????

DON'T CLICK AWAY! I NEED YOU!

Hello,
This is my first CC post :) I am a rising HS senior, nursing major, and prospective York College student (not yet applied). Haven't found much info on this college on CC or CP, and since I will visit, I have a few questions. Feel free to answer any or all, or bring something new to my attention. Please read all questions before clicking away! I have some pretty specific/odd ones that only you can answer!

-Are there things to do off campus? How about on campus (and do students stay at school on weekends for activities)? Is it a "suitcase school"?
-Is freshman housing hard to get into? Freshman classes?
-Does the student body seem motivated?
-How is the weather? Does it interfere with your experience at all?
-Do you feel safe on campus?
-Where do you study? Is it easy to find peace & quiet?
-Do you know your professors well, and are they accessible?
-Is there WiFi in the dorms?

-As a nursing student, could you work a minor into your schedule?
-Where are clinicals? Are you driving far to get there?

DON'T WORRY ABOUT INFLUENCING MY DECISION ASTRONOMICALLY; I AM JUST CURIOUS!
Thank you! :)

I can’t help you too much, but I ran a marathon in May that started on campus. I thought the campus was attractive and the town of York had a lot more to offer than I would have thought. Great run/bike trail, too. It could be a hidden gem.

Hi OP, I attended York.

In terms of suitcase school, there are people who leave on weekends and people who stay… If you stay, there are always people to hang out with.

For things to do, there are tons of clubs and events on campus. We often had bands and movie nights. in the town there are malls, restaurants, movie theaters, etc. you’re also only a few hours from DC, Baltimore, Philly, NYC. The school usually organizes trips that you can sign up for.

Freshman are guaranteed housing. There is tons of upper class housing as well. I had a four bedroom on campus apartment my senior year.

Great student body. Get involved in many things. We don’t have a football team. Just throwing that out there in case you’re into that. One thing I did each year was travel to Florida to build a house with habitat.

Weather is typical north east. Hot in summers, cold in winters. Campus is beautiful covered in snow. And in the fall and spring. Very pretty.

I always felt safe on campus. Usually walked places at night with someone else though jest because you never know.

I studied in my dorm, in the library, in Sparts den, at friends, etc. used to host study groups in my apartment the night before a test.

As far as professors, you’ll know all of your major professors very well. Small classes and they teach a lot of them.

There was not Wi fi in the dorms when I went there but that may have changed.

I don’t know much about the nursing major but I do think I had nursing friends that also squished in a minor. You have electives to take… Use them towards your minor and it should be fine.

There is a hospital right next to campus. Notsure if that’s where clinicals are or not but that would be my guess. The nursing program is very good.

Thank you so much…your answers definitely padded the info provided by my shy-guy tour guide!
I appreciate it <3 today I started my app for York after visiting. Looking forward to when I am able to answer questions about nursing instead of just asking them. :)

How was your tour

Your Wifi question is answered here:

Location of clinicals is discussed here:

I found quite quickly those using the search function on the college website.

Thanks momma, that page also says you can add in a minor.

I enjoyed my you (beautiful scenery, came prepared w questions) but both my tour group and guide seemed a little close-mouthed.
Thank you for the info, momma. On the tour I asked similar questions and found that WiFi is campus-wide but using the Ethernet ports in dorms was more reliable. I was also told that while many nurses did not take a minor, minoring in Spanish would be a smart move–but the more common path is to take a couple upper level classes in the language to supplement what I learned in high school.

-_______- “enjoyed my you”…lol. meant tour.

Someone else was on a tour there the other day and said their guide was quiet and a quiet group. Also on these boards, for nursing. Wonder if you were in same
