Yeah, those also sound fun. What are you guys thinking about for the First Year Seminars...I'm really not sure????

Gah, I'm trying to deciiiide... I'm so torn! For AESOP, I'm definitelly doing the "chilling at popham beach" thing... I was never much of a "pee-in-the-woods"er

first year seminars sound like a blast, but i'm torn about what to do for AESOP-- I'm going to be running cross country, and th coach wants everyone on campus that week for training/bonding.. but aesop sounds like fun! my friend did aesop 2 years ago AND XC running, and said the coach frowned upon it, but it was fine... however, I think he's actually planning an XC team camping trip during that time -- i guess i'll be having fun either way!

so... housing opens up the 1st???? I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WANT TO DO! I'm not sure about the all frosh vs mixed class housing... definitely a dorm, and definitely NOT smith... but that's all i've decided upon.

see you all next year

~nd

I tried the online housing application...no good. It does not work. Error or something. If anyone can submit it, let me know. I would like to do it online, since I haven't received the package yet, and it will probably take even longer.
By the way, of the international students, has anyone found out anything about the package? Will it take any longer to arrive?

Pah, so online housing application is open today and we are still package-less. If housing turns out to be first come first serve, us intels are gonna be really ticked off.

Yup, you are so right!

Good news is that housing is NOT first come first served, and nor are AESOPs. According to Dean Reese, the housing/ AESOP requests are not even dealt with until July. Bad news is that the packages got couriered yesterday! : (
I'm feeling pretty disenchanted at the moment with the intel office, but whatever. At least the packages will get to us ... eventually...

Yeah, the form isn't working for me, if they don't fix it by tomorrow, I'll give them a call.

i was able to fill out the form at about 3pm central no problems... i don't know, it wasn't that specific though, it never really asked building preferences or double v tripple v quad and i definately don't want a quad. oh well, i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Hey everybody. I just finished my first year at Bates, and I thought I might offer up my assistance with any questions you have. But first I am going to make a shameless plug for the AESOP trip I am leading, which will be pretty amazing. I'm headed out to Franconia Ridge, a level 4. It's going to be relatively intense, but nothing grueling. We have some awesome hikes planned, and we are staying at some great sites. So if you are, as another post put it, a "pee-in-the-woods" kind of kid, SIGN UP. Plus the guy I'm leading with is one of the most amusing people I know.
As far as my suggestions for FYS... Nanotech with Cote will be fabulous. I have had him, and he is a really great prof. Anatomy of a Few Small Machines is also a fun one from what I hear and a great way to fill a science ged ed if you aren't a science-y person. Any of the English classes are also really a good way to get used to the college essay. ahh. That's my two cents for what it's worth. Feel free to pick my brain about anything Bates here on the boards on send an email my way ebond@bates.edu. Yeah Bates!
