Info re: Fashion Merchandising Program

My daughter is starting to look at colleges, and is interested in fashion programs. Can any one out there give us some inside info on the Fasion Program at FSU? Are you or your child in it, and have you been happy with your experience so far? How selective is it? How many Freshman do they accept? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The major has been suspended due to cutbacks, and it is unclear if it will be reactivated in the future. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/florida-state-university/738632-fashion-program.html</a>. Only upperclassman can take classes to complete their major. They are enrolling no more students in these majors, with no plans to open this program back up in the next 3 years.

oops, to clarify, the textiles and fashion design majors have been suspended. The merchandising and product development major is undergoing change, becoming less “fashion” oriented and more retail oriented. The budget outline says "Suspend Apparel Design major, Suspend Textiles major, Restructure and rename Merchandising major. Given the changes, the program may not the the same as it has in the past. Just a heads up.

Given the uncertainty, I suggest you call the department and schedule a visit or at least discuss the situation. I heard the section was well-regarded in the past.

Thank you to everyone for your responses. I heard something about these changes. Will follow up by talking to the dept.
