Info sessions for 2011 FAll/2012 Spring Recruitment-Area Panhellenics

The following thread is on Greek Chat ([GreekChat.com](http://www.greekchat.com)) under the forum Sorority Recruitment. I thought it might be helpful to those of you who have questions about recruitment. It looks like many area panhellenics are hosting info sessions for young women interested in going through recruitment. This particular thread has begun listing the sessions, times and even some contact info. We did not have that type of info available in our area last year when we were preparing for the process at Alabama. I think that it looks like a very useful tool for moms and daughters!

Information Sessions for 2011 Fall /2012 Spring Recruitment - Area Panhellenics
Area Alumnae Panhellenics in many places – especially Texas – will be offering information sessions for high school seniors interested in Fall 2011 or Spring 2012 NPC sorority recruitment.

They can be especially helpful for “first in family to think of going Greek,” or “new to city / region / live in small town / don’t know of any sorority women” situations.

Mothers (and dads) are often welcome, too.

These sessions can help answer questions about recruitment. They’re a good way to network and get assistance in finding recommendations to sororities, too.

Typically these sessions are scheduled in February, March, April . . . check with local Alumnae Panhellenics and be alert for notices in local newspapers.

In my opinion: whatever you may think about the idea/purpose of recommendations, or getting prepared in advance for recruitment, these forums, sessions, etc. can be a godsend. A potential new member, or a mom, can pick up truly useful info and maybe make a new friend or two. Moms who are sorority alumnae can brush up on their knowledge of how recruitment is handled “today” at the college your daughter, granddaughter, etc. plans to attend.

I hope sorority alumnae will post info about more upcoming sessions

If you continue to look at the postings you will see that many alumnae have started to post. Keep checking back, new postings occur daily.

Greekchat is a great way to get information on recruitment for PNMs. But I would caution a PNM against posting personal information on that board. It is not nearly as friendly as this one. Zillini on Greek chat is a UA sorority advisor and she is super friendly and helpful. I would do a search for her threads. she knows what she is talking about. I had the pleasure of meeting her last year at Preview weekend.
