Informal Interview

Two months ago, I sent in my Pre-Application form. Recently, someone who's associated with the admissions team called me to schedule an informal interview. The person I'm meeting isn't alumni but has a daughter who's currently attending. Is this interview usual? What kinds of questions do they usually ask?

Thanks

Interview? Or, the school asked her to touch base to see if you have any questions (or to see if you could be infuenced by her enthusiasm for the school) and she likes to do it in person? What’s her “association” with the adcom? I would be tempted to call the school and very diplomatically/positively ask if this is an interview, a replacement for (or supplement to) an on-campus interview, or just contact. This all may work out fine, but if it is a surprise, you can call the school and inquire. I’d guess her questions will be like anyone’s; it’s just that I personally would wonder if she is qulified to “interview” and “review” me. A local alum from a major Ivy interviewed my daughter, told her it was his first time and he did not know what to do- and proceeded to tell her she was wrong (he used that word) to want her proposed major. She said he was not testing her- he went on at great length. I can’t imagine what his write-up looked like.
