Where are you all getting your information about majors and possible career choices tied down to each one?

You can look at the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/internships-careers-employment/1121619-university-graduate-career-surveys.html to see where graduates in each major from various universities end up. Berkeley, Cal Poly SLO, Virginia Tech, MIT, and CMU have relatively detailed surveys, including listings of employers.

The US Dept of Labor - Occupational Outlook Handbook has a TON of information about careers, related majors, projected hiring, salaries, links to other resources etc.

[Home : Occupational Outlook Handbook : U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics](http://www.bls.gov/ooh/)

The College Board offers info on careers/majors too.
