Information about the math placement test

For current UCLA undergrad students:
Do you remember what was on the math placement test? Not specific questions, of course, but what types of math did it cover? Also, did you place where you thought you would?

The questions were very similar to the ones on the SAT II Math IIC exam, in terms of both their content and presentation style. Yes, I placed where I thought I would.

60 questions, 90 minutes.

It's all the high school math, meaning lots of algebra. And I placed where I thought I would. :)

So, mostly algebra, some trig, and some pre-calc? Is there any calculus?

There is no calculus. Know the basic stuff...there's no double-angle identities or triangular pyramids...

now that we know our ap scores, should knowing our ap calc scores affect whether or not we still take the math placement exam?

Covered Topics

The skill areas that are covered by the test are:

Elementary operations with numerical and algebraic functions

Operations with exponents and radicals

Linear equations and inequalities

Polynomials and polynomial equations

Functions

Trigonometry

Logarithmic and exponential functions

Mathematical modeling -- word problems.

And yes, I placed where I thought I would.

Thank you all.
Oh, and the second link you provided, Emmeline, was incorrect. I found the page, though. http://www.math.ucla.edu/undergrad/diagnostic.html

what calculators are acceptable for the diag?

please tell me i can use my 89! D:

they said "calculators optional" but did not specify which ones, so i'm assuming it's ok
