Hello, I have a son who is a junior in high school and we are beginning the process of narrowing down colleges to visit. He wants a small college with a good business program. I have read great things about Elon and, specifically, their business program. Can anyone what with me their experience or knowledge about it? Is it as good as it looks? We will be touring Elon as well as Furman in the spring. I wonder if Furman’s business program is reputable, does anyone know? We may check out Wake Forest, but I’m not sure he has the grades for it. Thanks for your input, it’s greatly appreciated.

One key difference between Elon and Wake - Wake has a seperate admission process for the business school that one does sophomore year. My son was admitted, but saw many students flounder in the intro accounting class - drop it after the midterm - and there goes the hopes of majoring in business at Wake. It is very rigorous. Beautiful new building - lots of personal attention from professors who gave real world experience. The accounting program has the highest pass rate on the CPA exam in the nation - but one of the reasons for that is the “weed out” process they employ.
Elon does not have a seperate admission - anyone can major or minor in one of the business school offerings. Younger son did a business administration minor and it was very manageable. Great program and professors - not as demanding as Wake.
Only have two sons - so no one went to Furman!
Thank you for our replies! That information is very helpful. I have a good feeling about Elon, it seems to be an up and coming school. I look forward to visiting the campus and learning more.
If you tour Furman, you may want to look at Wofford College as well. Small liberal arts college in Spartanburg SC. It’s about 45 minutes from Furman.
