My school's musical for the next school year will be Footloose, and I want to gather information on it for both me and my friends, since several people don't know anything about it. So do any of you guys have basic plot info, vocal ranges for characters etc.?

You should buy the cd, its pretty cheap (the original broadway cast one)

The songs arent too difficult, you dont need to strong of a guy lead to pull off Ren McCormick. The most difficult songs are prolly Holding out for a Hero, Lets Hear it for the Boy, and Almost Paradise.

The basic plot is a young boy moves from Chicago to a small middle of nowhere town Beumont (spelling). And its about his adjustment and he discovers that this town is super religious and super conservative. And basically the plot is him trying to make the town less conservative by hosting a school dance (which is prohibited in the town). Its a fun show and the songs are catchy. YOu will get a better picture if you buy the cd, there is very little talking in the show, so most of the show is explained through the songs and all the show songs are on the CD.

if you want to know the plot you should probably just rent the movie...its pretty much the same, except for the fact that they don't sing the songs in the movie, they are just played in the background.

the show is pretty cool because the songs aren't your usual broadway showtunes or anything, some of them are popular songs from the 80s that you will recognize when you hear!

anyways, good luck with the show! it seems like it would be really fun to produce!
