I was accepted at Carnegie Mellon University campus in Qatar.
I applied for computer science and information systems, where information systems is my second choice.
Well, I'm admitted now, but I have to major in Information Systems, which I know nothing about.
So, please, is there anyone here who can tell me more about it?
What I'm really interested in is Computer Science, especially Software engineering, so by majoring in Information Systems, would it be possible for me to pursue a career in the field of Software engineering?

<p>okay, so information systems will definitely give you the computer science knowledge that you want, with the addition of the business knowledge involved. Good thing about CMU-Q is that they allow you to cross-register for any courses that you want. So all the computer science/software engineering courses that you think you might require for your career will be available for you…that does mean you can pursue CS later on. Also, once there, you can ask to be transferred to CS if you feel like doing that. Further more, in the industry, it never is about what you majored in, its about what you know…so if you do have the relevant know how that a software engineer might require, no one can stop you from doing what you want to!</p>

<p>You need to keep in mind that a lot of focus in this program will be also on business related topics like organizational behavior, business applications etc., because this is also an integral part of the course.</p>

Well, I think now there’s nothing left to hold me from enrolling there, other than the huge amount of papers that I have to fill in ^^’

<p>Lol, yeah I agree, I still have like so many immunization proof documents, housing documents and I don’t know how many other documents to fill. My major - CS :)</p>
<p>I still advise you to research more carefully if Information systems + CS minor will give you all you need from CS, by going through course descriptions, or talking to people who are already in the field. Oh, Have you been accepted elsewhere?</p>
<p>Yeah I’ll do that, and yes I’ve being accepted in another university here in my country(Morocco), but I’m still waiting for their answer about giving me a scholarship; because if they do, I won’t be going to Cmu ^^'</p>
