Hello, everyone! Next semester I am entering my Junior year at the University of Michigan - Dearborn. I am majoring in ITM with a minor in Accounting.

ITM (Information Technology Management) is also referred to as MIS (Management Information Systems) at other Universities.

I am already admitted into the Business school and am still taking my general business requirements (Marketing, Organizational Behavior, and other Management courses)

I am reaching out to those who are knowledgeable about ITM or are majoring in it themselves.
I know that there are different directions you can take in the field. I could focus more on the IT side or more on the Management side.

I think it would be more beneficial to choose the more IT focused courses when the time comes. Do you think this is smart? What about pertaining to the job market?

Would I benefit from studying more information on my own? I was thinking of purchasing a couple of books about IT, to prepare myself and give me a head start on the advanced technical aspects of the field.

I don't want to learn how to become an advanced programer or write code necessarily. (I feel like those type of jobs are meant for those who have been talented programers from a young age. People who have taught themselves)

I guess, at this point, I'm a little uneducated about the field and aren't completely 100% of my options for future jobs. I've heard from people that ITM is the inbetween of Managers and IT Professionals. Is this necessarily true?

I would greatly appreciate hearing anybody else''s experiences in the field or opinions on the matter! Any advice is welcome!

Thanks a lot!
