So, I got accepted into both schools. They both have their pros and cons. I was leaning more towards VCU at first because the city atmosphere attracts me to it. But I feel like GMU would be better for academics ( I mean, it is harder to get into that VCU.) So, it all comes down to what school would be better for my anticipated major? Which school would be better if I want a career in information technology/systems and/or computer science? From what college would it be easier for me to find a job after graduating?

“harder to get into” doesn’t always translate into better teachers or a better learning experience. It often means only that you have a more consistent pool of high potential peers.

Are you the type of person who is easily side-tracked if your peers are going out and having fun instead of studying? Are you more likely to pursue “fun” if you are at VCU instead of GMU? I’ve seen more George Mason graduates working in the DC area than VCU graduates but my sample size is too small to mean anything.

Everyone I know who has gone to VCU has loved the experience. I haven’t asked about the educational outcome.

Good luck with your decision.
