I applied for the Ingram Scholarship. I’ve been accepted through ED1. Good luck! I’m pretty sure they look at the essays you wrote, your letters of rec, and how much service you’ve done, and the impact you’ve made on your community. Then they look at your grades and test scores and take the top-notch students that fit all of their criteria. Hope this helps?

i was accepted ed1 and i applied. i really don’t expect to get it, i just figured that it was a few essays that were possibly worth a quarter million dollars and a might as well try! good luck to everyone

thanks…yeah i applied because unless I get the scholarship or a really awesome financial aid package i wont be able to go to vandy even if i was accepted :(

does anyone know the exact date that we find out if we are a semifinalist? how many do they choose?

I know we find out towards the end of January if you are invited for an on-campus interview. I am not sure exactly how many are invited for this, I believe it varies every year. Last year the pool of applicants was very weak and only 6 out of over 500 were selected as Ingram Scholars.

Weak?? I would hardly call the applicants for I/S “weak” … it’s just that Ingram Scholars are over-the-top-amazing. Read the bio’s on Vandy’s website. These kids have done flat out incredible things as high school students, and they have to convince the committee that they will be able to handle Vandy’s academic demands while continuing to be amazing community organizers. It’s truly the cream of the crop that gets to be an I/S.

so i also noticed that they only took 6 applicant last year. is this the normal number of students who receive the scholarship?

i thought that they offered it to more like 12-15 students. hopefully they will accept more than they did last year!

No more than 6 are usually taken every year. The year before that I believe 19 were selected. That’s why I heard that the applicants were generally weak last year. Obviously, everyone who was chosen deserves the scholarship but I believe that is the reason not more scholars were chosen.

Hey everybody.
does anybody have any new information about when we should hear? does anyone have new information about this year’s ingram program in particular???

Thanks!
