inherit the wind

i just read that play. i assume some of u have too. i liked it but it also frightened me to think of a time where u were essentially an enemy of the state if u read Darwin or were an evolutionist. I also think it points out flaws in the creationism theory while not reigning evolution as supreme either. mainly something that was reinforced is that the Holy Bible is not supposed to be necessarilly taken literally (ever read Revelations?) however Darwin is, and so they are not contradictory to one another exactly. Anyway...opinions??? if u havent read the play u can comment too.

On a lighter note: The play was really short too.. score.

bump bu-bump

hello there?

Never heard of the play.

I read this play years ago and it was great. Based on the Scopes trial in Tennessee (1928?). Clarence Darrow vs. Williams Jennings Bryan.

In 1960, a movie was made from the play starring Spenser Tracy and Fredrick March. A terriffic movie though it does not faithfully follow all of the events at the trial... Your better video stores may have the dvd.

See the following link for more info on the Monkey Trial: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopes_Trial

Re: Intelligent Design/Creationist

The supporters of Intelligent Design seem to be laying low after the Dover, PA ruling against them. There's been news in the last week or so about scientist finding a kind of fish skeleton that had a bone structure that looked like it could have evolved into legs or arms. And scientist recently found a hominid skeleton dating back some 4.2 million years.

So far no response from the creationists...
