There was an incident on campus that resulted in the death of a student. An anonymous call was made to 911 about a student that appeared to have been involved as a pedestrian in a hit and run. He was badly injured. However, it seems that he was not a victim of a motor vehicle collision. He was apparently jumping bleachers in the baseball ? stadium and fell a long way down onto pavement. The details are sketchy. He was with a friend or friends who got scared (?) and may have moved him, then called 911 and left the scene. He was hospitalized, had near 25 units of blood, but could not be saved. He turned 19 in the hospital, but died. His family was able to have organs donated.

My D has not heard a thing. The obit ran in a local paper, with no details other than he was an FSU student who died at TMH. He did not go to the same HS as my D and I saw the obit and called her, but she did not know him and had not hear anything about the death of an FSU student. No obit in the Tallahassee paper and no mention at all in the paper of anything. The student's parent works at my local hospital and the department was in mourning over the loss, asking Monday morning about what I knew about the circumstances last week. I had not heard a thing, and had not even realized I knew his parent until yesterday. D still has not heard a thing.

Please be careful… there are some wrong facts in your story. When things aren’t released wide there are always reasons - there is a family’s emotions and feelings involved as well as a possible criminal case. If it was our student, would there be anything gained by having information in everything in the paper. If anyone was at risk or needed to know something, the University would let students and families have information.

If a student dies as a result of injuries suffered on campus, students, faculty and parents deserve to be informed about basic information. As a result, yes the rumors are flying. There are now rumors about an assault, about an attempted murder. Things are getting out of hand. A statement needs to be made. If the injuries were a result of shenanigans, then no details are needed. But not making any statement is fueling the fire.

If injuries occurred on campus and a crime was not committed, it is not reported on that link. And that link is just some of the incidents. The police log is here, and if you look at the past month, there are a lot more incidents than the first link given. It is unclear how long before an incident is even reported here.

There are details that will always be confidential and private. But a student death as a result of injuries that occurred on campus… there ought to be a statement. Not everything that happens in public remains private. This did not happen behind closed doors.

Yeah, I was hanging out with one of my buddies in Degraff and like 3 girls came in saying that someone got hit by a car, and the story has been changing ever since.

I think heard about this as well from a friend on Facebook. She was saying how a friend she knew died in a hit and run accident. Sounds like the same incident.
