Inner Cities: what is their place in admission?

You got in because your school wanted you (with all your various features) more than they wanted those who didn't get in. That's about all anyone can know (other than the admission committee who won't reveal their "formula").

Also, check out questbridge.org. It is a fabulous program (my son was a match to Pomona this year). And, there is a stickied thread at the top of this section. If nothing else, all of your applications will be free if you're a finalist (and about 50% of the kids who apply become finalists. 60% of them end up accepted to a partner school.)

Too late for me I think. FALL 09 Apps are over for questbridge.

ohhhh...sorry, I thought you were a junior!

you need to be looking for schools with late deadlines now - many of the top schools had deadlines on 12/31. there is a thread on here about that very subject....I'll see if I can find it and post it. You need to get all the financial aid info in to them too.

You still have time for macalester (they would love you), carleton, reed (hell, all of these schools would love you)...check out the thread!

Northeastern

.

So far of the good ones I got into Northeastern and Villanova.
I am starting to think I might get into Vassar. My why vassar essay was excellent.

lol, u funny dawg >_>

Wow...I think you may have set some sort of record!!!

Make sure you get financial aid info out to them by their individual deadlines!

Forgot Miami-EA
and Brandeis
and Stanford
all I can say is it was a pain in the ass for the elites' essays.
and I got in ti Penn St- U Park

The reason I did so many is 1. Some of this stuff is so random so who knows
2. I need to get the best fin aid / scholarship possible.
3. We re having bulletins at schools and putting every college one gets accepted to.
:)
4.Unlimited Fee waivers.

^lol, you trollin?

ain't no way in hell i'm believing you applied to that many schools...

well it was free he said he had unlimited fee waivers

:D
As hard it is to believe, its true.

http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k372/suatkilic/haha.jpg

Its hard to scan the paper ones though..

I don't like how the name of the picture is 'haha.' It's not freaking funny. You don't know anything about most of these schools, yet you apply to all of them. If you actually get in, I see that as taking away an acceptance from someone who was actually passionate about the school. What a knee-slapper!

to OP seriously man i like your chances at any top college to be brutally honest, Vandy is dumb man lol. Plus once u mention your ethnicity and situation in a essay, ur golden

to xsteven.

Look dude, i see where youre getting at but i visited half these colleges and i spent a good amount of time writing the essays. the elite ones I really want to go to any one of these.and for the ones like monmouth rosemont and montclair etc, they were because of the guaranteed med program.

i kinda agree, if i get rejected to Emory, my number one cause kids like you with free waiver forms who dont know much about my favorite school since 8th grade ill probly cry. My SAT scores arent bottom 25% and i got to a school that sends at least 2 or 3 to ivies

its hard not to annoy people in cc for some reason.
but whats better, applying to one school I really like and get rejected because of low scores and feel doomed or apply to a lot and possibly get into one.
And you may think that I don't care about any of those schools but you're wrong.

Anyway guys sorry if you think I am being unfair.

xSteven is being ridiculous. You will only attend one college. You are not taking anyone's place by applying to a lot of schools. Good grief.

It was a lot of work for you to apply to a lot of colleges. I hope you have great success in admissions and scholarships - I think you will - best of luck! :)

And yes, accomplishing what you have accomplished when you are coming from an inner city school is noteworthy. Colleges will appreciate it. You are not officially an URM but you have a unique background. I think colleges will appreciate that, too.

Exactly, he's only attending one college, so why apply to 28?
And please, you can't be passionate about all of those schools. Unless passion is defined as 'the yearning for an elite school'.
