Input on my Second College Process

Hi all. I finished my first year at Carnegie Mellon University a month or two ago. I enjoyed my stay there and everything, but I was driven to apply for transfer to a few schools during the year, for various reasons (social appeal, workload). I was rejected from Tufts and Harvard (ha), and I recieved my acceptence to Northwestern University today. And thus, I am amidst a breakdown :)

Please help me out a litte:
Carnegie Mellon University vs. Northwestern University

Now, I am very aware that no one can tell me which one I'll be more happy at. It's impossible because of the difference in views and desires from person to person (ie my love for the city of Pittsburgh, campus setting, etc.)

So, I simply ask for your comparison of the two schools strictly from an academic perspective. I'll take care of everything else! :)

Basically, at Carnegie, I was a double major in Business Administration (Tepper School of Business) and Professional Writing (HSS). I love journalism as a hobby and potentially a career, but what I really want to do is break into the business world. My first choice is in the sports industry.

CMU offers a Business degree ranked 3rd by the Washington Post and 6thish by USNews. Northwestern does not have a business program, but offers an elite economics department (so I think).

Can anyone compare and contrast the two? My Tepper Business degree from Carnegie and my economics degree from Northwestern? I really don't know. I don't know which one with open up more doors and look better on my resume. Please take into account what I'm trying to do as you give me advice.

I'm real scared, and it is going to be enough of a problem sorting out the non-academic side of this. I hope you can at least help academically. I made a promise to myself a while back that if I was going to transfer, it was going to be to a program that was considered a step up, and in no way a step down. Thanks so much for your help! Sorry for the length

Sorry for the bump, but does anyone have any advice? I'd be very grateful.

put it this way, Northwestern is a more selective school, has a higher ranking, the quality of students is higher, u can take classes in any school without restriction, MUCH NICER CAMPUS, MUCH HAPPIER STUDENT BODY, MORE GRADE INFLATION

IS A BETTER GRAD FEEDER

Northwestern's Econ program is consistently ranked within the top 7 or 8 in the country.
