Inquiry - my chances?

Ok - to start the new thread off, i would like to introduce my self... i'm an international attending an internation school outside the U.S.

as far as i am concerned - although our school follows an American curriculum, i would say that our level of education is pretty high. i did not have very successive fresh/sophomore years but i'm recompensating for them this year and next year.

i'm assuming a cumulative gpa of around 3.4~3.5 (by the time i apply for college)

i haven't taken the SAT yet, but from practice tests my prediction is about 1250~1350.

EC: i have taken seriously a number of them - but for the sake of decision i will list major ones??

disaster relief in INDIA (two weeks) for Tsunami relief
Earthquake relief in TURKEY
(pure community service [in my area of residence] 10~15 hours per school year) * 4 years

i wont list school activities like sports, band...student council etc...

but having these factors and the fact that i'm a third cultured kid
lived in kenya, lived in turkey, lived in south korea

i know three languages... fluently

what would be my chances of going into top 50 unis and LAC's???

i am considering schools like johnshopkins, rice, emory, ucla, ucb, virginia, newyork university..and other schools...which schools would i have a chance of getting into...

could you specify life safety, reach..etc
thanks in advance

connecticut college LOVES international students and would be a nice match/slight reach for you. a 3.5 gpa and a ~1300 SAT probably takes you out of contention for most top 20 schools, but there are some excellent schools between 20-50 that would love to increase their diversity, especially other northeastern LACs.

tribal45:

UCB/UCLA: Reach (out of state)

the SAT score seems to be slightly low for the new SAT and you should post your Toefl score if you want a better prediction.
If you have further questions, don`t hesitate to send me personal message in Turkish. I would like to help you.

my toefl score is 277

and my sat 1250~1350 score range is using the old sat

so 1800~ 2050 on the new sat

Amazing! Try to get a Math score above 700. On your application, put your sport activities and the leaderships if you have any, along with your community service, and you`ll have a decent chance on each schools, you listed, maybe accept ucla and NYU. By the way, as far as I remember they would count your gpa on a 5.00 scale basis in Turkey.

no - i went to an international school in turkey (not like robert college or uskudar american lisesi). the school uses a 4.0 scale

but thanks for the advice - i appreciate it
