I wonder if you may like Oregon State University with its work on old forests, microclimates, birds.

UC Davis?
I am currently thinking about this university. But all the universities in California have no EA or ED.
Why is it so essential to apply ED or EA? Wouldnât finding the right school be a better plan?
For insurance, I plan to apply to several universities , so I want to consider EA and ED universities. And also, EA or ED are more likely to be accepted by universities.
WellâŠyou have less than two weeks to figure out a warmer weather school, and submit all of your application materials to the schoolâŠincluding any supplemental essays required.
Right now, your selections both have COLD and SNOWY winters.
Since my grades were not good enough to apply to a better university I had to apply to these two. Since it is impossible to avoid the cold weather in both universities, I pay more attention to the resources and teaching level of environmental science major.
WellâŠkeep looking because folks here are giving you plenty of options in warm weather areas.
ok. Thank you for replying me.
Consider Arizona State University with Nov. 1 EA, from the Sierra Club list.
You may know this already but mentioning it here because some international students arenât awareâŠ
You can only apply ED to one university, and if admitted youâre committing to enrolling there, even if you get admitted to a âbetterâ or cheaper university later.
Some colleges have ârestrictedâ EA which places limits on where else you can apply early. Make sure you know all the rules.
Did you already apply to University of Rochester early decision? If so, you can stop looking for more ED schools to apply to, because you can only apply to one school ED.
But you can apply to Early Admission (EA) schools. Just keep in mind that if you are accepted ED to Rochester, you will be required to withdraw all other applications and acceptances if you accept their ED offer of admission.
What does this mean â There is no budget limit at present.â
Can you fully fund an education in this country?
What can your family contribute annually for you to attend college here?
If you applied ED to Rochester, did you also complete the necessary financial aid forms?
@yangsijiayang, people are trying to help educate you on the realities of these decisions. I know you felt compelled to ED somewhere and maybe the math makes sense when you look at the admissions odds for U Rochester, but it does not seem to meet any of your other needs.
Concerning your perceived ED advantage: There are some stats that throw off ED Admissions. The recruited athletes and other scholars with âhooksâ are in those numbers. At some colleges there may be very few admitted in early rounds without these advantages and it can make it look more advantageous than it actually turns out to be.
For U Rochester there looks to be almost no advantage to ED - ED was 45% admissions rate and RD was 41%. It was a smaller number who applied ED, but remember some of those could have had hooks of some kind.
For the conversation you need to have with whoever is paying for your college education: U Rochester indicated they factor in financial need for decision making for foreign applicants, so make sure they actually understand it will be close to $400,000 by the time you are done with 4 years of college if not offered any aid or merit. The COA for someone in the states is $83,468 per year, but they have one of the lowest numbers I have seen for travel at $300 - you will far exceed that. And the room and board could be an additional $3400 a semester based on the options that may be available (this is true at most US colleges - they post the least expensive option, but that may not be available in later years).
Item | Cost |
---|---|
Tuition | $60,550 |
Fees | $1,128 |
Room & Board | $18,100 |
Indirect costs (books, supplies, etc.) | $1,310 |
Transportation* | $300 |
Other expenses | $1,080 |
Total | $82,468 |

You may want to consider withdrawing the ED application and going back to the drawing board.
