INSECURITIES: Your opinions based solely on these scores?

Hi

I'm not really looking for a specific 'chance me' thread to a university, I'd just like to get everyone's opinions on my general chances based SOLELY on these test scores. I mainly say this because of how I performed on my SAT II's...

Anyways, here goes:

AP:
- Fives: World History, Physics B, Calculus AB, US Gov't, Language and Comp, Human Geography, Computer Science A, Mechanics (Physics C), Calculus BC (and AB subset), English Literature
- Fours: Statistics, US History, Electricity & Magnetism (Physics C)

IB:
- Chem SL (5)
- Math SL (7)

SAT:
- 800 CR, 760 M, 730 W (11 Essay), single sitting, one time

SAT II:
- 740 World History
- 800 Physics
- 790 Math II
and...
- 700 Chem
- 620 Lit ....

I'm not sure, could I get someone's opinions? Surely two poor SAT subject tests couldn't be a significant deterrence? I'm kinda freaking out because I have plans to apply early this coming November and I recently retook the two poor SAT's and have decided to cancel them.

Upon the discretion of the public, I may/may not decide to RETAKE chem and lit once again...

and actually study this time...

HELP?!

and

Thanks!

Planned major please…

^

It would have to be in STEM.

The humanities aren’t really my thing.

You have a strong Physics Math II and decent Chem test score. Stop freaking out SAT IIs will not determine whether or not you get into a good school! In addition, you have a pretty awesome SAT I score. Just focus on your essays, relax, an you should be fine. Good luck!

Even most selective schools usually ask for only 2, maybe 3 subject tests if any. And when they do, many specifiy a math plus one other. You have that covered with math, hist and chem. I wouldn’t take anything again. Your reg SAT is 1560 (CR+M) so no problem there.

Colleges are holistic. They want to see that you have aptitude in subject areas, not perfect 800s across the board (as nice as those are). Your lit score isn’t great, no, but you a 5 in AP Lit & Lang, 800 CR, and 730 W with 11 essay. Basically, someone pretty good at english, even if it’s not “their thing”. You look well rounded, having an 800 CR even though you’re going for STEM.

Chill. Write your essays instead of bothering studying for this stuff.

If they ask for SAT IIs, go for the best ones and only send the number required.

What schools are you interested in?

I have been told by admissions officers that Sat2s are one of the least important factors in admissions. It doesn’t make or break you. If you do well, it’s a small plus, if you do terrible, it doesn’t really matter.

^Really? I’ve been told that since they’re a way to revisit your GPA as they’re objective, they’re quite important.

(@Catria: a few in-state safeties but mostly top/mid-tier schools)

I hate to bump this thread, but I feel as if thank-you’s are in order.

So,

thank you for all the advice!

That’s a load off my shoulders…

Your fine. Do not sweat it.
