Essays/Recs: I'm a decent writer and teachers seem to genuinely like me, so these should be a strong point

ECs
Programs and Such: Gov. School (Int'l Studies), HOBY, Robert Wood Johnson Mini-Medical School @ UMDNJ (fairly selective), UN Student Conference on Human Rights in NYC (60 kids/US&Canada), NJ Model Congress (Committee Chair, maybe something else this year), Selected to attend Girls' State (didn't)

Schools:
Yale (SCEA), Harvard, Brown, Penn, Stanford, Columbia, Georgetown, NYU, BU, Macalaster, UChicago, Amherst, Swarthmore, UVA, Northwestern, Middlebury

So are these matches, reaches, etc.? Thanks!

bump…please?

out of curiosity why are you retaking the SAT

Yale, Harvard, Brown, Stanford, Columbia - you have a shot, but will probably be rejected, just like everyone else. Would not be shocking if you got into one of them.

Penn, Georgetown, UChicago, Amherst, Swarthmore, Northwestern, UVa (out-of-state) - you have a pretty decent shot, getting into any or all of these is a possible outcome.

Middlebury, Macalester - probably in.

NYU, BU - definitely in.

There is no financial safety here. Unless you are wealthy, apply to easy schools that meet full need or give lots of merit aid. Or Rutgers and TCNJ.

I’d say you’re in good shape in regards to UVA, Macalester, and BU. Yale, Harvard and Stanford are probably reaches. Georgetown might be a match, but I’m not sure.

*2230

j245rash: Honestly, just because. I’ve taken them twice, and am generally satisfied, but if I have a chance at a 2300+ I might as well take it. Also, my CR and Math aren’t really consistent (M 620, 700; CR 740, 650), so I want to show that I really am where my highest score is.

lockn: Thanks for the honesty, and I’ll definitely be applying to Rutgers NB…I’m somewhere around upper middle class (can’t afford $30K+ a year, but won’t get enough aid to cover it).

bump…

You can take the SAT II Math and Lit instead of retaking the entire SAT if you want to show math and reading abilities.

eh, i think i’ll do better just taking the easier tests again haha

A 2230 is a veryy solid score for ALL the colleges on your list, just so you know…
Your GPA and courseloads are great, they both seem rigorous and the fact that youve taken so many APs will distinguish you  ECs read a bit like a laundry list … but maybe thats just because I’m too lazy to peruse through all the text. Still a single passion w/ awards/recognition doesnt really jump out at me…
Reaches at HYPSM, low reaches everywhere else and in at your safeties.
chance me back if you have time? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736548-chance-me-top-schools-ivies.html</a></p>

Thanks! Yeah, I’m sort of a Jack(Jill?)of all trades, so to speak. What’s the M (as in HYPSM)?

and my safeties, now that I think of it haha.

I think the “M” stands for MIT…?
I’d say you’re good for NYU, Swarthmore, U Chicago and Northwestern. I frankly don’t know enough about the Ivies to say…
Some of your ecs seem a little sporadic, but you have a lot that seem to be focused around politics and such so it’s all good. :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/738434-chance-suggest-average-student-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

Thanks and yeah, definitely not applying to MIT with my math score haha

ignore people who tell you not to retake the SAT. and yes:

smart choice

i know a guy who got into MIT with a Math score of 610

Yale - reach

Columbia - reach
Georgetown - reach
NYU - match
BU - safety
Amherst - reach
Macalester - match

charlieharper: Even if I could by some miracle get in, I’m more interested in the humanities/liberal arts leaning schools, although MIT’s an amazing school.
clg210: a little harsh (i.e, too realistic haha), but thanks.
