Inside HIgher Ed: Grinnell Will Keep Need-Blind Admissions

Grinnell College has announced that its board has affirmed a need-blind admissions policy in which applicants are admitted without regard to financial need and those admitted are assured enough aid to meet full need. Grinnell is among the wealthiest (by endowment) liberal arts colleges in the country, but it announced in 2012 that it was considering an end to need-blind admissions. College officials said at the time (and have reiterated since) that the college’s annual budget is too reliant on the endowment, and that more alumni need to donate to financial aid.
