I'm thinking about applying, but I want to know more about the school...can anyone who goes/went there or just knows about it tell me a bit about Holy Cross, what they like/dislike, etc. I want to know what people really think, not just what all the brochures and tour guides say.
Thanks!

anyone????????

Because it is a very small college of just 2700 students, the admissions staff have to find people for the 26 varsity sports HC fields and they also need people for all of the various organizations and clubs from the band to college radio station to theatre. Consequently they really prefer students who are heavily engaged in extracurriculars and not people who are academic drones. So there are a lot of jocks who attend the school. HC also prefers students who express great desire to attend Holy Cross specifically because of its unique characteristics (small, only undergrad, Jesuit philosophy and mission, New England location, small class sizes, etc). It is a very small school and it is a tight community. The down side is that it is small and the campus is similar to Notre Dame in that it is an idyllic campus but gated off from the city and there isn't much within walking distance of the campus. The plus side is that HC students and alumni do feel a special bond because it is a small school and there is a strong feeling of community even after you graduate. A downside is that the school does not have big name sports on TV every weekend but having attended Michigan for graduate school, I realize that a lot of the big sports schools are really minor league sports franchises and many of the athletes are students in name only.
