Exactly. If you want to give something up you better know what it is…

It started out as a fight but reality came during today’s plane ride K1 did write a FC letter. We’ll see. Now K2.
Also family friends are big donors at one of the 8 schools both K1 and K2 are applying. They will recommend the kids only if it is their first choice and they will attend no matter what. We are taking a pass.
Smart idea @stanford94 to avoid the letter.
I am just curious what you guys think about FC letters when you are applying to another school. I am an international applicant if that changes your answer in any way. I know PhotographerMom has already answered my question a while back, but I am curious what you guys have to say. Thank you all!
Not sure what you mean by “when you’re applying to another school.” FC letters can be helpful if you have one clear choice, no matter how many schools you’re applying to. You should only do it if you’re sure you’ll go to said school if you ARE accepted (barring some very unforeseen circumstance). Never send more than one FC letter. Lots of people AREN’T that sure, even if they kind of like one school best. If that’s the case, don’t send one, and just wait for revisit day. If you ARE sure, it can help because the schools like to know at least some of their accepted students will definitely come (yield), and an FC shows you will go, as well as showing your enthusiasm for that school.
K2 also sent a FC letter to the same school. We had no intention that they might attend the same school - they have always attended single sex schools until K1 attended a coed school this year. We are excited and hope all plays out well on 10 March.
Reading all your posts, I really want to write my FC letter. What should I say in my FC letter? How long do you think it should be? Look forward to your advice
Should I just tell the reasons I want to attend that FC school?
@Daykidmom Whoops! I don’t know what I was thinking when I wrote that message. I meant when you are only applying to One school! I see why that might have sounded different.
@Trekko10 Yeah, but don’t make it like a list
. Make it more of a letter, and try to connect with the values of the school or whatever drawn you towards the school.
That is if you have decided to write a letter despite all this debate in this forum
Yes, since you’re sure-- unless you already told them in an interview that they’re the only school. You would never discuss other schools in a FC letter anyway. Don’t make the letter too long.
