Insist College Put NMF Offer in Writing??

My S who is a NMF was recently awarded a wonderful full tuition, four-year scholarship at the college he will be attending. And while we do have this year's package in writing, we have never received a written confirmation that this package will continue for all four years. Everything to this point has been verbal. Should I aggressively insist that this four-year full tuition offer be put in writing. Has anyone ever had a college backout on such an offer to an NMF later? Due to the yearly cost of this institution and our financial situation it would be a hardship we things changed.

Just send an email to the Director of Scholarships (or the appropriate person) and ask if the NFM scholarship that was awarded to your son is for four years (mention what the scholarship includes).

If the scholarship includes full tuition, ask if the scholarship increases as tuition increases.

The response will be your proof. Often there is a GPA requirement to keep the scholarship - like - maybe - 3.0.

When you get the positive feedback, print it out and save it.

(I had the same question with Alabama. I wanted to make sure that the full tuition scholarship would increase as costs rose, and the same with the housing scholarship. When I got a positive response, it was great!)
