Hi all, I honestly just feel stuck. I have felt this way for almost a year now and I guess I just need someone to tell me I’m not messing up and things will get on track soon. I transferred out of my CSU to a CCC and I really really really want to transfer to my dream school, USC. I messed up on my financial aid last semester and now have a hold on my account so I’m unable to go to school this fall. Am I making mad choices ? taking time off, is that a bad thing? I have been reading some of your stories and they have given me hope I guess I just need to be honest to people who don’t know me so that I feel comfortable talking about this without bein judged I suppose
This is a UC Transfer Forum, USC has it’s own separate forum but I will give you my two cents.
You left you CS to go to a CC so you can chase your dream school. I don’t see a problem with this. You live once and chasing your dreams is apart of life. You’re not making any mistakes and if you messed up on your FA, then so be it, it is not the end of the world. You’ll have bumps in the road in your journey in life. You can’t sit there and feel sorry for yourself and even doubt yourself. Also taking time off is not the end of the world. I graduated HS in 2003, I did not go back to school till the late 2000’s and I was admitted into UCLA in 2014 and graduated a couple years later. I took plenty of time off and I have no regrets because that is the path I took.
I also suggest that you have a backup plan if USC falls through. Look into the UC system as well and apply to them as well. You don’t want to lay all your eggs in a single basket.
Best of luck.
