All I can say is OMG
D#2 had a teacher last year( while most of her teachers were very good ), who worked hard with her to be successful in the AP Euro class, and since because she had a 7th period, ( after the reg school day) she couldn't benefit from after school tutoring, he made himself available at lunch and on his home phone.

This teacher, not only is a very warm and approachable guy, he regularly attends the school functions, auctions ( where he contributes by spending & even staying after to clean up!), sporting events, and the all night graduation party.

I haven't managed to volunteer as much as I have in the past this year- so against my better judgment, I offered to help both in the morning during the rehearsal and again all night from 9 pm till 6am for the school sponsored after graduation function.
I don't know how I am going to stay awake that long- but I was so impressed to see this teachers name also on the volunteer list.

Not that I expect teachers to do that. Only one and a half teachers even came within a mile of that level of intensity and school spiritedness at Ds previous school, and it was my impression it was an irritation to a few of the other teachers who possibly felt it made them look like they were slacking in comparision.

I think that at Ds current school, teachers are able to see that their energy is met with energy from the parents and students and out of the classroom time isn't unusual to be spent with students.
But still- all night with teenagers?
I am so impressed- I may even wear a Hawaiian shirt in tribute ( He always wears Hawaiian shirts)
:)
