@thumper1 I was making a shredded chicken Alfredo. I had browned the chicken with garlic on saute and the IP recipe had finishing the chicken and pasta together. Didn’t work for me. I was hoping to have less clean up with a one pot meal.
I’m not one to like my pasta and sauce all mixed together anyway - I want to top my pasta with sauce and eat it that way…I vote for doing meatballs/sauce in the IP but pasta on the stove as usual. My brother has a recipe for meatballs/sauce in the IP that he says is amazing and his standards are high.
I should be getting my IP cookbook I ordered in the mail today - the Melissa Clark one - anxious to look through it!
I made these copy-cat Starbucks eggs this weekend. I put bacon in half of them, though. They are pretty tasty!

I also made this Senate Bean soup and it, too, was delicious. I did have to cook it much longer, but I think my beans were a bit old (which makes them tougher). I did add some carrot and a couple shakes of tabasco.

^I’ve made those sous vide egg bites, and they are the bomb!
Yes, I’m not a huge fan of my pasta and sauce mixed all together either. As far as saving time goes, you’re probably right. However, there is less to clean up, and you don’t have to worry about a pot of pasta boiling over on the stove. I like how hands-off the Instant Pot is…
A friend posted this printable quick cooking time cheat sheet for the Instant Pot. How accurate do you feel these cooking times are???

Looks good for meat, not so sure for veggies. Broccoli will be complete mush if you cook it for so long.
I just started to read this thread again after taking a break from the holidays. When I saw the carrot soup posted by @NJSue back on page 44, I thought I had to make it right away for lunch. It was super easy and delicious. I used baby carrots in my frig so I didn’t even need to peel and cut them. I also only used hand blender and didn’t even bother to put it into the blender since I like having a few chunks of veg in my soup. I happened to have fresh cilantro so didn’t need to wait until I go to the store.
Here is the recipe again.

Made a delicious beef stew last night. https://www.budgetbytes.com/2017/01/instant-pot-beef-stew/ Served with a hearty bread and everyone slurped it up.
The blanket recommendation of 26 minutes for beans of all kinds is bad, bad, bad. It’s as if they had a blanket recommendation for beef. Some kinds of beans will need much longer, while others will need much shorter.
Anyone have a good split pea soup recipe??
I haven’t made this recipe myself, but someone I know did and said it was yummy!
https://www.budgetbytes.com/2016/10/pressure-cooker-split-pea-soup/
I just made split pea soup. I used the proportions in the above recipe…but not the same spices. I used my regular Betty Crocker other ingredients. But 1 pound of peas…and 6 cups of water…and carrots and onions, and celery…and some cut up spiral ham leftovers.
15 minutes high pressure. Let sit for 15 minutes…then release…and it’s creamy and thick…and delicious!
Waiting for DH to get home with the croutons!!
So much easier than 2 1/2 to 3 hours in the stock pot! Stirring…
We will see how determined I get, but I’m have Monday off so I’m making it an Instant Pot weekend!
Right now making the butternut soup posted a page or two back! Can’t wait to taste it!
I am making the split pea soup, too!
Just sampled the butternut soup - I spiced it up a fair bit with cayenne and paprika and topped it with a splash of coconut milk and fresh cilantro - it’s GOOD!!! Perfect for this snowy day. (thanks for the recipe!!!)
At the moment I am cooking two things simultaneously in my IP-- a whole (uncut) butternut squash and a frozen chicken breast. I haven’t yet decided what I am going to do with each… it’s just nice that it is so effortless to do both. I had purposely bought the smallest butternut squash I could find so it would fit in the pot, and once in I saw I had more space… so why not throw in the chicken breast?
I’ve done eggs, beets, and potatoes in one loaf.
Dang iPhone. One loaD!!
@BunsenBurner I was picturing a VERY interesting loaf - bread? Meatloaf? Couldn’t imagine what kind of loaf contained those particular ingredients! :))
That would have been quite a load, indeed!
