@thumper1 are you trying to cook the meatballs in the IP or are you using meatballs already cooked ahead of time?If you have fresh meatballs then you would treat them like fresh meat, heat the pot on saute, add oil, brown meatballs , deglaze pan a little with some of liquid, then proceed like frozen. If already cooked, just follow the frozen recipe. It just will not take as long to come to pressure. I love the IP, it is just about the only way I cook now when it is my turn.
I want to use newly made fresh meatballs…not prefrozen or bought. So…I guess I just make them and sauté in the instant pot…and then add the pasta and pasta sauce and pressure cook…how long?
ETA…for most of my chicken recipes I do NOT cook the meat ahead of time…
My brother who is quite the cook and he and his wife are Instapot fanatics has raves about a recipe he makes for homemade sauce and meatballs - he never actually gave me the recipe but I feel like he talks about first making the marinara (it only takes a few minutes in the IP), taking a hand blender to the sauce and then dropping the meatballs in (uncooked) to the sauce and cooking for a certain # of minutes under pressure to cook the meatballs - he said it’s so good!
@abasket does he put the pasta in the instantpot to cook too?
There are tons of recipes using frozen and precooked meatballs…adding them to the pasta sauce and pasta. I guess I’ll just cook the meatballs first. This one might just be easier to do on a regular…pot.
I don’t know that for sure re: pasta. I don’t remember him telling me that step. I feel like no, he didn’t put pasta in the pot.
I think it will depend if you like the browned outside or not. I prefer it, but If not, just cook in the pot without browning.
Costco flyer says Instapot Nova Plus will be $35 off starting November 22nd online and November 23rd-26th in stores.
We are having a staff early Thanksgiving potluck at work next week. I’m going to bring my Instant Pot filled with ingredients and hand blender to work and make butternut squash soup in my office!

@thumper1 it is so funny that after you asked I came across a recipe with fresh meatballs https://www.wineandglue.com/instant-pot-meatballs-and-pasta-recipe/
@Singersmom07 thank you! 7 cups of liquid seems like a lot…but I’ll try it this week and see!
@thumper1 I haven’t tried it myself so let me know how it goes.
I got one but am feeling intimidated.
Don’t be afraid! It is just a fast slow cooker.
I got the 3 quart 9 in 1. (just two people) Read the first 20 pages of this thread.
Haha - no wonder you’re overwhelmed and intimidated - so much info in those 20 pages!
Just pick one thing that’s pretty simple - without many steps and try it!
I need to try a few new recipes myself! I’m gifting one to my D2 for Christmas so we may practice when she is home for break!
@abasket I bought a small one to try out and eventually give to my daughter. I had a stove top pressure cooker and I’m used to counting whistles. I feel like I’m starting from square one.
Oh, this is not a marijuana thread ??
Ok, I figured out the first dish I am going to try. Creamed spinach. I have 2 bags of spinach leaves in the fridge. (palak paneer just like they sell at Trader Joe’s)

This is the EASIEST Instant Pot recipe EVER! Just TWO ingredients: salsa and chicken plus some spices makes a delicious juicy chicken that can be used in tacos, over rice, salads and more!
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 teaspoon cumin
black pepper, to taste
pinch oregano
1 cup chunky salsa (or a jar)
DIRECTIONS:
Season chicken on both sides with spices.
Place into the Instant Pot and cover with salsa.
Close cover and make sure vent is closed. Set on manual for 20 minutes. Natural release.(wait for it until it realizes by itself).
Once the Instant Pot releases the pressure, put the chicken onto a plate and use two forks to shred.
You can even do this with frozen chicken! DD’s favorite go to recipe when late home from work. You can change or delete the seasonings. Pick an interesting salsa, we like peach salsa. Could not be easier.
