Came home to mine! All shiny and new. I 've decided on a name for mine: Carry Potter.
Tonight I was planning on making steak fajitas - don’t suppose this is something I could/should make in this thing???
Mine will be VIP. Very ImPOTant Pot.
^^^LOVE it.
I am so mad at UPS. It is 6 pm, and the package is still not delivered. They decided not to deliver my VIP today (obviously, they just don’t want the truck to make 2 consecutive trips to the house, because I have a couple of packages coming via UPS tomorrow also). Argh.
That’s ridiculous! Don’t they know you are WAITING???
They save gas, and they know that as a Prime member, I have no recourse against them or Amazon. Argh. Let me say a bad word. There. Said it!!!
Sorry Bunsen - VIP’s always make people wait.
Love your new look, Gertude! I think the driver got mad at me for the 42 pound sack of cat litter.
I think I am going to order 3 cat litters to spite that UPS driver!!!
OK, the driver must have read my post about 3 42-lb sacks of cat litter. The boxes miraculously appeared on my front porch at 7 and a change PM! UPS probably hates Prime Day.
Thanks Bunsen! I finally hit 1000 posts so I thought I’d treat myself to a new avatar. Glad your VIP has arrived safely!
Checked my email - the package was delivered at 7:28 pm. Holy Moses. The package originated from Long Beach CA. No wonder some in CA got their orders so fast!! I’m off to plan a VIP meal.
Mine arrived around 5:30. We had dinner out with friends so haven’t opened it yet,
I cooked a whole chicken in Flo-Jo (my IP) last night - it was certainly done, and tasty and FAST; but honestly I have to say I prefer the oven-roasted chicken with its crispy skin. After I pulled the chicken out, I sauteed some broccoli right in the pot, then once it was a bit caramelized, I steamed it for 3 minutes. That came out great. The whole dinner in one pot!
How long did the whole chicken take Gertrude? I’m so impressed at your using your pot right away!
I think I need to take a week off of work to figure this thing out. HAHA
Me too @abasket . . . I don’t feel qualified to operate the instapot.
For the chicken - rub on some seasoning - brown breast side down in the pot (saute setting) for 6-7 minutes, flip over & add some liquid, manual setting for 25 minutes (high pressure) then 10 minutes pressure release. So a grand total of about 42 minutes, compared to 90 minutes in the oven.
With the broccoli, I did the quick release - wow, look out! Use an oven mitt, & be sure the the valve isn’t right under your cabinets.
@GertrudeMcFuzz, if you finish up your IP-cooked-chicken in the oven, would that achieve crispiness?
Maybe…but then it seems just as easy to cook the whole thing in the oven if I’m going to make another pan dirty anyway. The IP is still a god backup for when time is short.
FYI, I went back & strained my yogurt - what a difference! I just put a coffee filter in a fine mesh strainer & let it sit over a bowl in the fridge for about 6 hours. Lots of liquid came out. Now the yogurt is a wonderful thick creamy texture.
