Let me know what other information you need. Thanks for any opinions.

You are a recruited athlete with a 3.85 and a 1400 (they don’t count the W SAT) with the strong APs? Yes, you are in honors and I would bet smith too!

disregard this post

Sorry BulletandPima - I am not a recruited athlete. The “hooks” section of my post was unclear. I have no strong hook at UMD. The things in parenthesis were just examples of possible hooks (I copied that form from another poster and then put in my information). Sorry for the confusion.

I think your chances are very good too, even if you’re not a recruited athlete.

Uh…yes. In.

You should be definitely be in for Smith and possibly for honors. I say only “possibly” for honors, because admissions to the honors program for me and the other people in my class last year was kind of a crapshoot, I thought. While I somehow got in with only okay stats, others didn’t get accepted with 1350+ SAT scores. Don’t sweat it though.

Oh, and write a GREAT essay. They do matter.

Thanks guys. Go terps!

I am still not going to change my opinion regardless of recruited athlete…IN and at least honors with merit!

aajjc…remember they are looking at the whole student, not just the stats. You can be book smart and score 1350, but if you have no EC’s they get concerned you will not be able to socially/mentally deal. Social ability is a big issue, especially at an ACC school, and having EC’s means you have another life besides school. Their fear is that emotionally it will be too much as a freshman. A book smart person could quickly fail if they do not have time mgmt skills like an athlete with lower scores. It might mean they are an introvert soically, and only live for a gpa. The true goal for any college is to have the most qualified student matriculate AND graduate!
