any colleges like Univ-Ark or USC-Columbia offer instate tuition for OOS students? My stats aren't great, I have a 1260 GPA (hopefully can raise to a 1330) and a 3.3ish gpa maybe? (a 4.08 on my schools weird scale).. i'll have taken 12 APs and have alrigh extra-curriculars.

What are you planning to study and where are you located? Many states have exchange agreements with each other that gives in-state/discounted tuition to OOS students who come to that school to major in something that no school in their home state has.

Take a look at LSU. With your current stats you would quilify for a $5,000/yr Tiger Excellence scholor award. if you were able to get your SAT up to 1330, you would qualify for the $10,000 Academic Scholars award. That would be close to covering the $13,000 difference between in-state and out of state tuition.

LSU Academic Scholars Award

Criteria: ACT score of 30 to 32 or a critical reading and math SAT score of 1330 to 1430 AND a 3.0 cumulative computed, six semester high school GPA.

Award: $10,000 per year plus the opportunity to earn up to an additional $1550 by participating in the Chancellor’s Student Aide Program.

Chancellor’s Student Aide Program provides an opportunity for students to work in one of our many departments. Students participating in this program can work up to 20 hours per week to earn up to $1550 per year. The student is paid an hourly wage and paychecks are sent bi-weekly.

Tiger Excellence Scholars Award

Criteria: ACT score of 28 to 29 or a critical reading and math SAT score of 1250 to 1320 AND a 3.0 cumulative computed, six semester high school GPA.

Just a correction regarding the South Dakota schools. Both U of SD and SDSU charge different rates for in-state versus oos students. However, both are tremendous financial deals even with the slightly higher oos rates they charge.

With a 1260 SAT, your OOS billable costs (tuition, room and board) at Ole Miss this year would be around $19,200. Get the SAT up to 1330 and it would go down to $17,200.

My GPA would probably be a lot higher but I spent pretty much all my time from 8th-11th grade playing online poker… I made about $17,000 in that time and I was going to write it as an essay, but i decided its probably best not to because its illegal and the colleges will think i have a gambling addiction.

but seriously you guys have been a big help.

If you live within one of the states that is a member of the Academic Common Market, and you plan to major in something that your own state doesn’t offer at a state school, then you can apply for instate rates OOS. Your major may qualify, so search through. My D is looking at OOS Japanese programs. Otherwise, Ole’ Miss is a great option!
