I-like a lot of people-am in a sticky situation. Next year i have to apply for colleges and my parents don't have the money for out-of-state. The only problem is my state (Maryland) doesn't offer Musical theater, which is what i want to major in. A friend told me how her moms friend daughter also had the same problem of not having one school in Maryland offering her major and when she applied out of state she explained their situation and got in-state tuition. Is it true?

I’m fairly sure that Musical Theater is not on the approved list of programs, but I think there is way to request that a particular program be added. You should look into the process.

Happykid came home with a copy of “College 411” published by the Maryland Higher Education Commission yesterday. Your school should have copies in the guidance office.

I haven’t looked at the website [Maryland Higher Education Commission Home Page](http://www.MDgo4it.org) yet, but I understand the most up-to-date information is available there.

Musical Theater doesn’t appear on the list of approved programs available to MD residents through the Academic Common Market. Several kinds of music business programs and music therapy do. From the list of programs offered by the various Maryland public Us, it looks to me like UM College Park, Salisbury, and Towson may be worth investigating.

Happykid is interested in Technical Theatre. Her best options right now seem to be Montgomery College, and PGCC. You may want to look at them too.
