ChernexDad would you say a good amount(15%-25%) of families have wealth in excess of CHF 50,000,000 and if so how hard would you say it is for FA students to acclimatize?

Please accept my apology for my tardy reply.

I am not sure they have financial assistance.

One need remember that the total cost of sending your teen to Le Rosey will be about 1.5 times the stated tuition cost. This includes the never ending “extras” on the statements, the various trips and the ever present teen scams, e.g. “All my friends are going to London next weekend and I just gotta go.” As a parent, you will also want to attend the December parent weekends and other programs.

It all adds up – faster than one can imagine.

We would do it all over again!

Thanks @ChernexDad for bringing some insight into the process. The school looks fascinating.

Although I’m suddenly appreciating Taft having just paid the deposit for the upcoming year. Suddenly it feels like a bargain :)

Hi MITAlum: When I visited Taft I was impressed that it was a first class school. Academically, stronger I think than Le Rosey. And…certainly more of a “bargain” than Rosey will ever be.

In the final analysis, Rosey has two important attributes. Depending upon one’s perspective, they are valuable or they are not. The first is that it offers a sophisticated environment for an international education. The second is that, if you fit in, you come away with a life-time’s worth of connections to the soon-to-be very, very wealthy.

Is that all worth the $600,000 I estimate the education now costs? That all depends upon one’s finances and outlook. It is certainly not the school for everyone. And as I pointed out at the beginning of my post, the academics at Taft are stronger than Rosey.

As someone who graduated from Le Rosey many years ago, I can not agree more with everything you have mentioned about it. Yes it is a “school for life” .Everything now days comes with a price tag. Your daughter’s experience there “was worth every penny”. I believe so. Mine was either.
However many kids now days have to realize that "in so many cases it is about what “they” make out of their stay at particular school and what they gain out of it as a result of their stay. I know that I gained a lot in so many ways career and friendship wise… So if you one has abilities and financial means … go for it.

As an alumnus of the school many years ago ,I agree with you that is has changed. Yes some students are wealthier then others, but that does not change an atmosphere on campus( at least not in my time)… Education is what one makes out of it and a level of motivation he/she has. Le Rosey gives excellent education to those who are willing to work hard no matter where they come from. Many of us achieved things based on our own hard work and motivation. Not where we come from. Not every student who went there sits on millions. However it is a school for life and besides much better education then any of US boarding schools provide , it is worth every penny. Especially if one decides to pursue certain careers…mainly public service, finance or international relations.
