Does anyone know why the instructor's names no longer show in the online schedule of classes? They have been up there so we could see who we were getting when signing up, but today they are all deleted. I have my telebears on Tuesday and want to be able to look at specific profs...

It’s probably a mistake on their part. Call the Office of the Registrar or refer to a paper catalog in the mean time.

BUMP
Does anyone know when this will be fixed? :(

check the specific department webpages, they usually have a list of classes with longer descriptions and the names of teachers. But yeah, this is annoying.

man, cal is a garbage school.

Don’t say Cal is garbage; other schools have problems that we don’t have, so nobody’s happy.

But anyway, i’m bumping this forum because the instructors’ names are even deleted from bearfacts, so I don’t think this is a mistake and might be permanent. I suppose it’s meant to not make students choose lectures simply based on professors’ reputation…

You can use courserank instead.

CCnewbie - the point is that you won’t know who is assigned to courses or particular sections any more, thus can’t pick classes to avoid the unreasonable, the incomprehensible and the annoying professors. Those negatively exceptional professors are now protected by the system, which in the past allowed students to steer away from them.

Courserank only shows you who taught a given class in the past. Some are always taught by one professor, but many more can be taught by several in the department and with multiple sections in popular classes there are often more than one teaching in a semester.

If rider is right, then this school is garbage.

hey Ankur, do you even go to Cal? have you experienced it yourself?

seems to be firing flame grenades left and right recently. Maybe having a bad week?

rider - Courserank had the instructor timing and section before, so that you could find out who was teaching when and match it with the Schedule of Classes. Apparently it’s gone now. Looks like it’s not a glitch. They did it intentionally.

Now we don’t even get to pick professors? ***.

***. what a douchy move by cal.

milktea11, why are you defending this?

and if anyone wants to find out the professors, I’ve been going on [Ninja Courses](http://ninjacourses.com/) and looking at the professors on there because I think it saved the professor’s names from phase I. But I’m not sure…

i’m not defending this, in fact i hate the fact that we can’t choose our professors anymore. because even the most boring subject can be interesting when the professor is really good and vice versa (a subject you normally are fond of can turn out to be a disaster depending on the professor)
i’m just saying that you need to have more reasons because calling cal a garbage school

sigh I’m glad I already enrolled since I used ratemyprof and CC opinions of which professors to get for Math 53 and Physics 7A and apparently they was a large consensus on some being better than others like get Yildiz over the other person or Evans is better than someone else blah blah etc.

So when someone says a professor is “Bad”, does it mean they are bad lecturers, or give incredibly hard tests with no curves, or do they have BO? I mean what do they mean by a “bad professor”? (Mad Scientist who tries to take over the world bad perhaps?)

PS: I know I’m not funny and my attempts at humor suck.

Well, now all the professor’s names are showing up again, I emailed them and they said it was a glitch that caused their names to be removed.

Professors are bad when you get a bad grade.

that is good. i would think they would actually want the students to know the professor, because then, they can also see through the enrollment which professor is more popular/ which ones they should replace, etc.
