So...

I'm looking for a new instrument to play. I've been playing the saxophone for five years, so I'd like something a little different. Something that's not too pricy or too common. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I switched from the trumpet to turntables about four years ago. I have to say the turntables do have more sex appeal...just make sure you get Technics

well, it depends- ive played a lot of brass instruments, but it might be hard for you to switch to one. do you only want to switch to a woodwind instrument?

I'd like to play a woodwind or a string instrument.

Or something exotic and unique. That'd be sweet.

The upright bass is pimp, how about that?

Is that it?

That's the first image that came up when I searched upright bass in google.

yeah (10char)

No, thanks.

It's ugly.

Learn a double reed! Intricate, but awesome!

I say the clarinet. I play it, so of course my opinion is totally biased, but I think it has a very mellow, full, and sexy sound - when played correctly. And what could possibly be more seductive than the Mozart Clarinet Concerto? ;)

guitar :O
10 charrr

I think I might get back into piano... I don't know...

the ukelele !!!
(sp?)

nooo.....in my opinion....jazz guitar is one of the least used types of guitar (electrical, acoustical, etc) and sounds crazy good...but I hear it is hard to learn....I've personally always wanted to learn jazz/any other type of guitar or harmonica.....harmonica just because its cool and something VERY different

You could adopt the koto, the erhu, the shakuhachi or the veena (the latter is very difficult to find outside of southeast India; a sitar is more common).
And I know someone who has studied the erhu for a year now (he went all the way to China and bought one as he was already a guitar player.)

Play the dulcimer!

this kind of dulcimer

I love when my cousin plays his.

To suggest a new instrument for you, it would be helpful to know something about your personality. And, will you also be continuing the sax? If not, why not?

Violin! I played it for a while and LOVED it, but then I didn't have enough time.

But hey, as a question to you--I'm joining my college's band-uh, which you need no knowledge of music for, because they'll teach you [I'm obv. going to take advantage of that]. I was thinking of doing the saxophone, because it looks so cool...is it worth it? Is it easy/hard to learn, fun/boring to play?

I hated violin. The viola is much better.

Yeah I played violin for a while. It was okay. I was one of the top in my class. :D But I said forget it.

From there I went to piano. The teacher was a b.itch. Now I'm teaching myself guitar. :) It's going great! :) I love the guitar.

I'm planning on getting a new fender strat soon, though.

I gotta save up for it. :(

It's like $629.00. :( I'll get it by begging. :p
