<p>I was helping my sister fill out the FAFSA for her daughter. Her daughter was awarded a structured settlement. The payout begins in April. Does she have to report the money on FAFSA?</p>
<p>Doing the FAFSA in 2011 for the 2010 year she would not, as to the future, perhaps one of the pros can tell you…it seems I have heard at times that an insurance settlement for medical bills and/or later treatment is not counted, but that usually applied to a disabled sibling.</p>
<p>Her daughter is not disabled but has been classified with a comprehension deficit. We are just thankful that she is doing well. After finishing FAFSA…we realized it doesn’t really matter she has a high efc…no aid.</p>
