Intake for Graduate Student Electrical Engineering ?

Hey!

I am deciding which all colleges to apply to for the Fall 2013 Masters course in Electrical and Computer Science department.

Whats the intake for this program ?

Being an international student, and having Percentage Grading system in my university here. Do my chances of an admit get reduced ? (UCB accepts only GPAs)

Thanks

Which Master’s program are you applying to? There are two. [Degree Programs | EECS at UC Berkeley](Academics | EECS at UC Berkeley)

The M.S. is highly selective and your chances of being admitted are actually lower than for the PhD program. Berkeley doesn’t usually want to take Master’s students (why pay for someone who possibly leaves after 1-2 years?) and most people in the M.S. program have prior relationships to the university or professors here.

The M.Eng. is another story, it’s more or less a cash cow.

Regarding your original question, I’m sure Berkeley will be familiar with grading system in other countries, and as long as your GPA is decent, it’s only a minor part of your application. Research or experience (for MS) and recommendations count a lot more. And you can try to make up for a lower GPA by getting a very good GRE score.
