Is it too late to start? Honestly, I'd love to do it and just recently heard about it.

It’s not too late to start if you start a project ASAP. FINDING a project now might be sort of hard, but I’m actually starting my research this coming Tuesday.

In the words of Harry Potter “Excellent, really excellent” If you don’t mind me asking, what is your project on?

Yeah, it’s definitely not too late to start.
Even though I got placed last year, we mostly just did practice stuff, learning about techniques. I officially started my project this Monday.

I agree with rainbowrose in that finding someone (a mentor) to do your project will be the hardest part (that was my hardest part!).

The year I went to ISEF I didn’t start my project until around Christmas, but then again I have different conditions than most people. I love in a total void of universities and colleges so there are no facilities to conduct experiments, you’re doing them at home. So how early you start depends on your expectations, and you have to get through other fairs anyways.

Best of luck to you.

If you work all summer, you have a good chance of getting it done on time (depending on the project though).

And another quick thing. It states that I have to participate in another science fair on the website. What is the criteria for this science fair and when are most of the fairs?

In order to qualify for ISEF you have to place usually either first or second at your local one. You can find most of the information on the ISEF website.

[Society for Science & the Public - Page](http://apps.societyforscience.org/find_a_fair/)

It states that all of the ones in my state (WI) are all ready done. Does this mean I’m screwed, or do I simply wait for another to be announced?

Please? I really need an answer ASAP

Wait for another round to be announced. The application process starts as early as October to November (sometimes later, depending on the specific fair), and the regional fairs are held anytime from late winter to spring.

It’s not to late- just stay committed to your reasearch. I did my research only a month before the regional fair and still made it to ISEF. If your project requires special SRC Paperwork, make sure to get working on that with your mentor soon. Your regional fair will start sometime in the winter or spring, but you must first qualify through your school fair (if you even have one). Try contacting your local STEM ED office for more info. on dates- it can vary from state to state. Remember that you can take inspiration for your research from anywhere, but make sure to outline your research and follow your specified schedule.

Good luck, and I might see you at ISEF!
