Hi everyone! I am doing some research this summer with a professor at the University of Chicago, and he wants me to enter everything I've done in the Intel Science Talent Search competition this year. I have never heard about it before, and I'm not exactly sure what it entails. I do have a lot of AP classes coming up in my senior year, and I was just wondering if it would take up a lot of time during the school year. If anyone has participated before, please feel free to give me some insight! Thank you!

Was this research that yoy had dine independently or did you work as an intern?

I have done all the research myself, but the research was done under a grant, and the original project was under a grant.

If he did do it under an internship though, would he still be allowed to present it to Intel?

I would like to learn more about this too especially since my school rarely has students participate in it.

Yes, the research is done under a grant, so I am not sure either…if anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Is this for serious?
Of course you can submit from an internship. Why else would everyone be freaking about about getting into summer programs such as SIMR, RSI, and HSHSP? Just because it’s not a part of these programs doesn’t mean anything. It’s mentored research. Same thing.

As for time required for application, here’s a sample paper application from last year’s competition: http://www.societyforscience.org/document.doc?id=399
It’s up to you if you have time to complete it. Although since I’m assuming you’re actually a senior, the essays should be similar or the same as college apps.

You can also always email them to find out: sciedu@societyforscience.org or call them at 202.785.2255 if you’re not sure about certain things, like the grant.

Thank you very much @quidditchat! I wasn’t exactly sure, but thanks for clearing it all up!
