I’m not sure. According to the Intel STS 2011 Rules and Entry Instructions, page 2.

“SELECTION PROCESS
After reviewing entries for completeness, accuracy, and rules violations, all portions (short answer and essay questions, Research Reports, recommendations, transcripts, and test scores) of every submission are evaluated by three or more doctoral scientists, mathematicians, and/or engineers in the appropriate scientific discipline. The greatest weight is given to the Research Report.
After this review, top entries are further reviewed by an additional judging panel of doctoral scientists. 300 Semifinalists and 40 Finalists are selected from the entries.”

For me, when I log in, it shows on my main page under “Application Status:” a bullet called "Transcripts: " and under that, “School name High School: Received (Official)”

hi joining in on this conversation. i got siemens semifinalist. but this applicatoin is ridiculous… with all the essays… my transcript was uploaded. did you guys focus a lot on the essays? i’m just going to submit my siemens report @crimsonuser u should email them. maybe they havent received it yet?

@crimsonuser and hypsmc
Check your e-mail if you have submitted ur app. Intel says its a minor error and the second entry of ur school name should disappear sometime soon (around 1-2 days).

I have the same problem, even though I mailed my transcript in over a week ago. For the people who can see their transcript status (pascal12 and hypsmc), did the status show up before you mailed your transcript in? Could you guys see the status as SCHOOL NAME: Not Received?

Aaggghh! Is anyone else encountering the cruel and unusual punishment of writing a 750 character layperson summary? My first summary was over 2000 characters, and I’ve gotten it down to 900, but this last 150 is killing me!!

Last question pascal12: Did you only notice the “SCHOOL NAME: Received” after you submitted your entire application, or was it there even before you submitted?

@wolfram3422 - I haven’t even submitted my application yet! I noticed it there a bit after I sent my transcript.

I don’t think you need to worry, as long as it was postmarked before November 8th (mentioned in the rules, page 10).

Haha, the layman’s summary is a pain.
I’m still having a lot of trouble with the “Your Promise as a Scientist, Mathematician or Engineer” prompt. What are you supposed to write about?? Doesn’t the rest of your application address this??
